چکیده

Abstract This paper presents hot-wire measurements in a wind tunnel, close downstream of basic models blade sections being representative for low-speed, low-Reynolds number axial fans, order to explore the signatures vortex shedding (VS) from profiles. Using Rankine-type approach, an analytical model was developed on velocity fluctuation represented by streets, as aid evaluating experimental data. The profile VS were distinguished blunt trailing-edge based Strouhal numbers obtained case-specific manner. Utilizing results, semi-empirical available literature predicting frequency extended low-speed fan applications. On this basis, quantitative guidelines consideration preliminary design fans moderation VS-induced vibration and noise emission.

Influence of Chord Lengths of Splitter Blades on Performance of Small Axial Flow Fan

On the basis of small axial fan with five blades, 6 types of small axial flow fans with different chord lengths splitter blades were designed. Numerical simulation of 6 fan models with splitter blades and prototype fan were done by using Fluent. Based on the obtained simulation results, internal flow characteristics and aerodynamic noise were analyzed and compared. It indicates that: splitter b...

Uncertainty quantification of low - speed fan noise

Uncertainty quantification (UQ) has been achieved for the first time on the self-noise prediction of a low-subsonic axial fan. Realistic 5% and 4% errors are introduced on the volume flow-rate and the rotational speed, respectively, and a set of 81 ReynoldsAveraged Navier-Stokes (RANS) simulations of the fan mounted on an axisymmetric test plenum has been simulated at Clenshaw-Curtis points. By...

Stiffness-based Approach for Preliminary Design of Framed Tube Structures

A parametric formulation for preliminary design of tubed-system tall buildings is presented in which some optimality criteria and practical constraints are considered. Here, a minimum compliance optimization formulation, developed by other researchers, is applied to a framed-tube structure. The tube behavior is modeled as a cantilevered box beam. Independent variable in this problem is thicknes...

Optimization of Low Pressure Vortex Tube via Different Axial Angles of Injection Nozzles

In this article, a Ranque–Hilsch Vortex Tube has been optimized utilizing axial angles for nozzles. Effect of nozzles angles on the flow behavior has been investigated by computational fluid dynamics (CFD) techniques. A finite volume approach with the standard k–ε turbulence model has been used to carry out all the computations. The dimensions of studied vortex tubes are kept the same for all m...
